 NWA SUMMER RESERVE S.O.S

(Summer Reserve and Scheduling Outreach and Support)
NWA Summer Reserve S.O.S. to the rescue!

Your Local Council would like to remind you of the NWA Summer Reserve and Scheduling Outreach and Support—or Reserve S.O.S., for short…..

NWA-AFA officers will be teaming up to provide special 24/7 Reserve and Scheduling support on a dedicated phone line to address your on-the-spot Scheduling, Rescheduling and Reserve questions.

Program this number into your phone: 888.3.NWA.AFA, option 2. (That’s 888.369.2232) or try summer@nwaafa.org for less time-sensitive issues.

As always, contact your Local Council Officers first for all scheduling, discipline, contract, grievance and rumor control issues.  Check the www.afa95.org for the local council calendar.  We recognize scheduling emergencies come in all sizes and shapes, and never when it’s convenient. Click HERE for MSP Local 95 contacts.  “Can they do that?” “Do I have to do this?” Sometimes you just can’t wait for an answer. The NWA Summer Reserve S.O.S. (http://nwaafa.org/resources/sos/)is your supplemental 24/7 scheduling support to tackle this summer’s unique challenges, together. Keep your contract close and an ally on speed-dial at 888.3.NWA.AFA, option 2.

Report vs. Check-in – part 2

Written in last week’s e-news;

Please remember, “Report” and “check-in”/call from inflight, are not always the same.  REPORT refers to the time you start getting paid and the start of your duty day.  CHECK- IN is the call we make from the base, example, 1 hour for domestic and 1.5 for international.  When you have a trip originating at base with a DH your first flight, your patterns will show a “report” time of 30 minutes prior to departure.  This is for pay and duty time ONLY.  Your “check-in”, call from inflight, needs to be made at the regular time.  Please see the cover letter of the bid packet for more information or call scheduling if you have questions about your trip.

Update – In addition to this we would like to alert you to the DL code on some patterns.  This code indicates a DEADHEAD leg on a PMDL-crewed aircraft.  If this code appears on an originating flight, your check in time is the same as explained above.  Also, please remember that if DH or DL is indicated on your line you are a MUST DEADHEAD.  You are not to occupy a jump seat.  You are to occupy a passenger seat.

Monthly Cover Letters –

Please remember that the monthly cover letters with the analysis are full of valuable information.  Many times you will find information that is critical to changes with patterns.  Our cover letter is just one of the many ways to obtain information.  Please read it each month, they have great information.

Where’s the BEEF?

We have had an overwhelming number of calls regarding missing crew meals on domestic trips.  Thank you for calling, keep them coming.  This is what we ask of you if you are experiencing this:

First, please contact us via phone at (952) 241-4100 opt 2 or via e-mail at lec95@nwaafa.org.

Second, go to WWW.NWAAFA.ORG and fill out the Cross Staffing Report form.

Third, Call FACC at (866) 612-0001 opt 2, then opt 1 or on ATLAS.

When you call or fill out forms please give the following information: name, employee number, pattern number with departure date and flight numbers that were affected.

Trip Trades –

During summer, Flight Attendants tend to trade trips more than normal.  Remember, when doing One Way Trades (OWT) or Mutual Trades between Flight Attendants, you are only allowed to pick up 10:00 hours over max for the month.  Contract page 6.37 is the reference for OWT and page 6.38 for Mutual Trades.   The max hours for the month refers to the max that PBS puts into place according to the EBLA and Section 5 of your Contract. (page 5.36)  If you ever wonder what the monthly max is look at the “crew info” screen when you log into PBS.  For example, if EBLA is 85 for MSP, monthly max is 100 hrs, you could trade up to 110 hrs.

If you are trading trips with the OPEN board through ACCESS you can pick up ONLY to the monthly max, if you are picking up with no trade (“straight up”) you can go as high as you like.  If you have further questions please call us in the local office at (952) 241-4100, opt 2.
